Lake Irwin Lake Irwin fresh full after flooding rains

Lake Irwin is named after Cyril Irwin Joseph Fitzgerald (known as Irwin).

In the early 1920s William Fitzgerald was director and shareholder of The Leonora Pastoral Co that amalgamated several smaller leases into the pastoral property that became known as Nambi Station.

In 1930 Nambi was equipped with 28 wells and 400km of fence William and Clare Fitzgerald owners of The Murrum Pastoral Co bought out other shareholders.

Irwin's widow Jean Fitzgerald (nee Wiley) managed the property until 1956 when Nambi Station Pty Ltd was formed and David Fitzgerald managed the property until the family sold its interests in Nambi in 1996.
