Albury is a city just off the Murray River in south New South Wales. Its closest capital city is actually Canberra (show me) in the Australian Capital Territory about 220km to the east-northeast (the capital of New South Wales is Sydney (show me), about 460km away to the east-northeast of Albury). Albury has a population of around 42,000 and is one of the larger cities in Australia. Albury is about 164m above sea level. The nearest sea is the Tasman Sea which is part of the South Pacific Ocean about 220km south-southeast of Albury.

The nearest more populous place is the city of Wagga Wagga which is 110km away with a population of around 44,000 (show me a map with Albury and Wagga Wagga).

The centre of Albury is at the intersection of the Riverina Highway and the Hume Highway.
