Picture of / about 'Phillip' the Australian Capital Territory - Edison Park Entrance1 - Edison Park Entrance (Contributed by: GPecham  564 pictures  )
Eddison Park was named in memory of the Eddison family whose property 'Yamba' included the land now occupied by the park.

Walter Herbert Eddison (1872-1966) came to Australia in 1914 looking for a chance to farm. When World War I broke out he joined the Australian Light Horse and seved at Gallipoli and in France. In 1920, as Captain WH Eddison, he received a lead of land under the post Wolrd War I soldier settlement scheme. With his wife Marion Louisa (1885-1981) he farmed this land as the grazing property 'Yamba' until 1953.

Captain and Mrs Eddison had three sons and three daughters. All three sons were killed in World War II.

In memory of the Eddison family's connection with this land and, in particularl, with the family's sacrifice during World War II, this piece of 'Yamba' was formally gazetted as Eddison Park on 19 June 1988. (from at sign at the entrance to Eddison Park)

Eddison Park has a Disc Golf Course, which is like Golf only using Frizbees. Lots of fun and just as frustrating as Golf.
