The settled area of Mt Seaview is in the Hastings River valley at the foot of Mt Seaview itself. Mt Seaview itself (out of the picture to the left) was named by the explorer John Oxley when upon reaching its summit, he was able for the first time since crossing the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, to see the sea from it.
