The Gascoyne Seamount lies about 522 km (282 nautical miles) off the coast of New South Wales (show New South Wales on map).

In the near vicinity of the Gascoyne Seamount the water depth ranges from about 82.5 to 4460 metres deep (about 45.1 to 2440 fathoms / 271 to 14600 feet). Based on this, the Gascoyne Seamount seems to rise about 4380 metres (2390 fathoms / 14400 feet) above the sea floor . This is greater than the height above sea level of Mount Kosciuszko .
