The Cascade Guyot lies about 206 km (111 nautical miles) off the coast of Tasmania (show Tasmania on map).

In the near vicinity of the Cascade Guyot the water depth ranges from about 640 to 2670 metres deep (about 350 to 1460 fathoms / 2100 to 8770 feet). Based on this, the Cascade Guyot seems to rise about 2030 metres (1110 fathoms / 6670 feet) above the sea floor . This is almost as high as the height above sea level of Mount Kosciuszko .
