Nuntherungie is a homestead on the Noonthorangee Creek in northwest New South Wales situated about 580km northeast of Adelaide (show me) (the nearest capital city). Sydney (show me), the capital of New South Wales, is about 890km east-southeast of Nuntherungie. Nuntherungie is at an altitude of approximately 201m. Nuntherungie is one of the westernmost homesteads in New South Wales. The nearest ocean is the Southern Ocean about 480km west-southwest of Nuntherungie.

The nearest more populous place is the village of White Cliffs which is 59km away with a population of around 220 (show me a map with Nuntherungie and White Cliffs).

Edward Kennedy

My great grandfather Edward Kennedy d.1901 and his wife Frances Gayer d 1919, and their 6 children lived on Nuntherungie station c 1880 until c 1895.

His brother William and wife Annie, sister of Frances, and their 14 children also lived there.

Several of their relatives also lived nearby -

Brother Robert Kennedy & wife Mary Hume and their 11 children had Wonnaminta station,

Frances' brother Ventry Gayer and wife Hester Chambers and their 5 children had Mordern.

Robert Kennedy jnr & wife Jane McMillan and their 4 children on Nundorah

His brother Frank and wife Amy Cottee and their 5 children lived with parents Robert & Mary on Wonnaminta.

Alfred Desailly & his wife Emma Stanfield were on Nettalie station. He was brother of Emma Kennedy's husband, George, Emma being a sister of Edward Kennedy above.

John Broughton widower of Caroline Kennedy, another sister of Edward, was on Poolamacca station.

Alfred's daughter Constance and her husband Edward (Plorn)Dickens, (son of Charles Dickens) were were on Mt. Murchison, then Wilcannia.

And so it goes on.

Most were very badly affected by the drought, rabbit plague and the world depression of c 1890.

Would be happy to receive and share information on these families.
