Lake Cobbler was originally a subalpine wetland, dammed in the 1950s by timbergetters. The shores of the lake now provide a pleasant setting for camping and picnicking amongst the snowgums. Pit toilets are the only facilities. A 4WD is required to continue across the plateau. The road is closed during the winter months and often covered in snow offering remote cross-country skiing opportunities for experienced skiers.
