Wilcannia is a village just off the Barrier Highway in west New South Wales situated about 580km northeast of Adelaide (show me) (the nearest capital city). Sydney (show me), the capital of New South Wales, is about 780km east-southeast of Wilcannia. Wilcannia has a population of around 700 and is one of the smaller towns in Australia. Wilcannia is at an altitude of approximately 82m. Wilcannia is one of the westernmost villages in New South Wales. The nearest ocean is the Southern Ocean about 530km west-southwest of Wilcannia.

Wilcannia is on the Darling River.

The nearest more populous place is the city of Broken Hill which is 190km away with a population of around 20,000 (show me a map with Wilcannia and Broken Hill).
