Compared to the rest of Australia, Merinda experiences exceptionally high overnight temperatures and wind speed. Daytime temperatures, rainfall, humidity levels and numbers of clear days are above average. Numbers of cloudy days are average.

Merinda has a wet and a dry season. The wet season in Merinda begins around November and ends around May. Over the course of the wet season, Merinda receives around 774.2mm of rain. By comparison, in the dry season from June to October, less than 130.4mm of rain falls in total. At the height of the wet season in February it rains on average 12.1 days in that one month. Indeed, Merinda has experienced as much as 326.8mm in a single December day. The wettest month on record is December with 848.5mm of rain falling.

Temperatures in the wet season average between 27.1 and 31.7OC during the day and 18.1 and 23.9OC overnight. Temperatures in the dry season average between 24.6 and 29.3OC during the day and 13.6 and 19.9OC at night.
