Construction of the steeply-pitched roof of a timber house. The framework is ready for French doors out to the proposed front verandah. The house was situated facing north. The photograph was annotated by the writer, probably Mrs Nicholson. 'North view facing the gardens. The 2 doors on the right are from the dining room. The middle one a passage. Then my room with a fireplace. The other side is divided into 3 rooms. The kitchen will be built distinct at the S.E. corner'. To the right of this photograph the writer states, 'A rising ground to be planted with oranges etc. ' Below the photograph, 'Hard road cut out.' To the left of the photograph, 'Sleepers and stumps of verandah.' (Description supplied with photograph.)
